As the third largest economy in the world and a major market for foreign direct investment (FDI) into the UK, MIDAS Manchester’s Inward Investment Agency recognises the country Japan as a priority market to support Greater Manchetser’sManchester’s growth ambitionisambitions. 

The mission and high-level activity surrounding it will help to raise the profile of Greater Manchester’s innovative companies and thriving business ecosystem on a global stage. It will also offer the opportunity to showcase Greater Manchester’s key sectoral focuses: Low Carbon, Advanced Materials and Life Sciences alongside world-leading research strengths to international businesses and investors. 

Many Japanese companies have already chosen to invest in Greater Manchester and have established a strong base here, including Daikin, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Dentsu, Sharp and Mizkan. The mission will help MIDAS to further strengthen relations with these organisations and work with them to forge new opportunities across Greater Manchester. 

Attending EXPO 2025 will allow MIDAS to kickstart conversations and business engagement to attract other innovative businesses to the region. Working with the Department for Business and Trade, the presence at EXPO will help promote new opportunities across Greater Manchester’s frontier sectors and build strong partnerships in market to support a pipeline of future trade and investment opportunities.
