Expo 2025
June 16, 2025 - June 22, 2025 Osaka, Japan
The World Expo is an international event for nations across the world to showcase products, expertise and sources of national pride. In 2025, Osaka will host this iconic event. The theme for 2025 is ‘’Designing future society for our lives’’ with the sub-themes of saving, connecting and empowering lives. It is set to be the largest international event this decade with over 150 countries and regions committed to participating. Hosted at Yumeshima Island on the waterfront of Osaka City, over 28 million visitors are predicted to arrive throughout the six months the event will take place.
For World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, the UK presents a modern, innovative, and uniquely British experience which inspires audiences from Japan and across the world to ‘Come Build The Future’.
Inspired by children’s building blocks and the potential for a small idea to change the world: every simple block, just like every little idea, has the potential to become something great, but the magic is in gathering these small pieces together. The UK Pavilion showcases Great Britain and Northern Ireland as a place of opportunity where the world’s brightest minds come together to build solutions to the biggest global challenges. From the invention of the steam train to the world’s first carbon-neutral spaceport, visitors will be taken on an immersive journey through the past, present and future of great British innovation.
2025 will also mark Greater Manchester’s first attendance, which gives our city-region’s businesses the opportunity to showcase their solutions to a global audience. It’s hoped that strengthening our relationship with Japan following the December 2023 mission will give Greater Manchester a more meaningful and powerful global narrative when it returns for World Expo in June 2025.
Manchester is a city of opportunity – one of the largest and fastest growing city-regions in the UK, the gateway to the ‘Northern Powerhouse’, a world-class centre for innovation and science, and a desirable place to visit, invest, and do business. Manchester and Japan have many strong foundations to build on, and the Manchester Japan Steering Group is ready to help facilitate stronger collaboration in the future.
